Vital absurdities
measured · the Anti-AwardsWhat to do each season
3mild-dry
the pleasant window; Gandhinagar-proxy openmeteo mean 20.1-24.2 °C (Jan ~20.1, coolest); dry (Nov-Feb, ~0-0.1 mm/day); the only genuinely comfortable outdoor months
- the brief outdoor season — the 'walk to work' design and the riverfront are actually usable; the business and conference calendar peaks in this window
hot-summer
brutal dry heat; Gandhinagar-proxy openmeteo mean 28.1-34.9 °C (May hottest 34.9 mean, routinely above 40 °C in daytime); essentially rainless (Mar-Jun <0.5 mm/day)
- the outdoor affordance is deleted by extreme heat — life retreats into the air-conditioned towers; the hostile condition the smart-city/SEZ enclave is built to insulate against
- the planned 'walk to work' district's shaded, air-conditioned internal circulation becomes the operative layer
monsoon
the short monsoon; Gandhinagar-proxy openmeteo mean 27.5-30.0 °C; wet (Jul wettest 8.3 mm/day, Aug 6.9); some relief from the summer heat
- the rains break the heat; the Sabarmati riverfront and the planned green spaces activate
- the monsoon is the construction-and-delivery constraint on a city still being built out
